there aren't enough words to describe how satisfying it is to discover a release that is so clearly crafted with such pristine care from start to finish. nothing about maetrix solution's 13th release entiteld, "blue shimmery fall" leaves the listener feeling like they've just been rushed out of the room.

jap jap is the solo project of jasper boer. hailing from holland and at just 25 years of age, is showing a depth of musical maturity that many commercially successful artists are still striving to obtain. his work has already been filtering out over the web, landing prior releases on netlabels nishi and sutemos.

everything is so charasmatically written and it's actually refreshing to hear when modern day composition techniques aren't being abused for the sake of being original. plush environments and simmering rhythms are teased with minimalistic effects, sounds and soft leads that seem to play off each other effortlessly.

they all seem to glide right through each other and before you know it, you've set your finger down on the repeat button, again. from the fleecy and instantly loveable, "in a bright light" to the enchanting mellow epic, "cosmic trace". while the year is only nearly half over, this will easily be deemed one of the best chillout net-releases of 2006.
